The 2018 Kips Bay Show House

Upon entering the 2018 Kips Bay Decorator Show House, you’ll be transported from the bustling streets of New York City to what feels like another time and place. A perfectly curated group of interior designers has transformed this six-story walk-up into an exhibition of unique style and elegance, all in the name of fundraising for the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club.

The upstairs wet bar at Kips Bay is perfect for entertaining friends and creates an ambience perfect for any social gathering.

One common thread woven throughout the distinct style of each room is how the old world meets, blends and reinvents the new. Inspiration from the past informs nearly every space, and each designer takes the past and makes it their own. From a modern oasis to royal ambience and shimmering glamour, discover the transformative power of design by diving deeper into the trends spotted at this innovative event.

Creating a peaceful sanctuary in the heart of New York City is no easy feat, but designer Marcia Tucker has found success in this stunning master bathroom. An installation of a live wall of greenery above the Ceric® freestanding bath makes it easy to feel like you’ve traded the urban jungle for the natural world: its fragrance immerses your senses into the relaxing atmosphere of the space. The Veil® trough sink allows organic curves and soft shapes to calm your mind while the Veil intelligent toilet brings unobtrusive technology to your routine. The expert use of delicate Vibrant® Rose Gold finishes and wood accents ensures every detail allows you to focus on your well-being.

Designer Mark Sikes creates a cohesive royal story with a bedroom and bathroom that bring contemporary elements to classic designs. His new Schumacher fabric collection in delicate blue paisley prints adorns the vanity and shower and brings a delightful surprise to the space. A splash of timeless elegance from the Pinstripe faucet and showerhead, both in Vibrant® Polished Nickel finish, and the Kathryn toilet all nod to the past while staying refined and modern. The overall effect of the space is a design with lasting allure that is sure to stand the test of time.

Designed to match the jewel-box bar and contemporary salon, the exquisite master sitting room bathroom from duo Jamie Drake and Caleb Anderson is a decidedly modern take on classic elegance. Knowing precisely how to layer elements allows Drake and Anderson to pair a stunning geometric gold and black vanity with the unique square shape of the Rêve® toilet. By using a Purist faucet and showerhead, the design finds cohesion even within bold statement pieces. The crocodile wallpaper begs for a second look and brings together the moody glamour of a space meant to spark a dialogue between classicism and modernism.

Designer Scott Sanders set out to create a room tailored enough to be taken seriously but playful enough for a stolen moment away from a party. He leads with a masculine aesthetic by mixing black fixtures with the brushed brass finish of the pinstripe faucet, but the elegance of the materials and surprising pairings lightens the tone. Classic works of fine art and splashes of metallic décor accent the powder room with a wink that lets guests know they can relax and enjoy the moment.
